When it comes to langley vaulter competes on world stage, in a remarkable display of talent and determination, Langley vaulter Katelyn Foss and her teammate Jacynda Row from Edmonton recently showcased their skills at the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) World Championships held in Aachen, Germany. Competing in the highly competitive vaulting pas de deux category, the duo made Canada proud by finishing in 10th place on August 14, 2026. Their performance, which involved executing intricate routines on horseback, drew attention from spectators and judges alike.

Understanding Langley Vaulter Competes On World Stage

Foss noted that their journey to the world stage began two weeks prior to the competition. The Canadian team arrived early in Aachen to acclimatize and train with their horse, Gozer, provided by the local vaulting club, RVV Equus e.V. “Our competition experience for this weekend started two weeks ago, when we arrived early to train and meet our horse we would use for the competition,” Foss shared. This preparation allowed them to build a strong rapport with Gozer, contributing to their overall performance. Learn more about this topic on Wikipedia.

Training sessions leading up to the event proved crucial. Foss emphasized that the energy and excitement built during these early days translated into a positive experience during the competition. “It’s been a really good time; a really positive experience,” she added, reflecting on the camaraderie shared between her and Row as they faced international competitors.

    Performances Under Pressure

During the championships, Foss and Row participated in two rounds of competition. Their initial performance was met with enthusiasm, showcasing a blend of grace and athleticism that is required in pas de deux vaulting. However, the second round presented challenges that were less than ideal. “It wasn’t as clean as we had hoped, and it wasn’t as clean as our first round. We had a few mistakes, but all in all we ended on a nice note,” Row explained. Despite the setbacks, the duo was satisfied with their final standing, appreciating the experience gained along the way.

Foss and Row were one of two Canadian pairs competing in the pas de deux vaulting final. The other Canadian team, consisting of Megan Leeper from Strathmore, Alberta, and Katie Van Den Bosch from Olds, Alberta, achieved a commendable ninth place with their horse, Zorro. This display of talent underscores the growing prominence of Canadian athletes in the equestrian sport, particularly in the discipline of vaulting.

    A Celebration of Equestrian Excellence

The FEI World Championships in Aachen is a prestigious event that attracts top equestrian athletes from around the globe. The first five days of the championships included events such as eventing, dressage, and vaulting, all highlighting the skill and dedication of the participants. The competition has become a significant platform for vaulters and riders to showcase their talents, compete against the best, and gain international recognition.

As Canada continues to make strides in equestrian sports, the performances of Foss and Row reflect the hard work and determination required to succeed on the world stage. The pair’s participation not only brings attention to their individual talents but also to the growing community of equestrian athletes in Canada. Their journey at the World Championships serves as an inspiration for aspiring vaulters and riders across the country.

    Looking Ahead

As the FEI World Championships progress, the anticipation builds for the upcoming show jumping competition starting on August 19. Canadian athletes are eager to continue demonstrating their prowess in this highly technical discipline. With the momentum gained from the vaulting events, Foss and Row’s experience may serve as motivation for their fellow competitors, pushing them to strive for excellence and aim for the podium.

In the world of equestrian sports, events like these not only celebrate athletic achievement but also foster relationships between horse and rider, and create lasting memories for all involved. As the championships unfold, the spirit of competition and camaraderie remains at the forefront, promising an exciting future for Canadian equestrian athletes.
