The India International Travel Mart (IITM) kicked off in Ahmedabad on March 20, 2026, drawing a diverse array of exhibitors and visitors eager to explore global tourism opportunities. The event, which is set to run until March 22, showcases more than 150 exhibitors from various countries, emphasizing the importance of International Tourism in the post-pandemic landscape.

    Showcasing Global Destinations and Partnerships

This year, the IITM attracted exhibitors from over 30 countries, including popular tourist destinations like Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and the Maldives. The fair provides a platform for countries to promote their tourism offerings while also facilitating networking among travel agents, tour operators, and industry stakeholders. Exhibitors are displaying a range of products, including travel packages, hotel accommodations, and adventure tourism options. Originally reported by Siliconindia.

Participating countries have noted a significant uptick in interest from Indian tourists, with many nations eager to attract visitors in search of unique experiences. For instance, the Thailand Tourism Authority reported a 25% increase in inquiries from Indian travelers compared to last year, indicating a robust recovery in the sector.

    Keynote Speakers Highlight Industry Trends

The event features a series of seminars and talks led by industry experts. One of the keynote speakers, Rajesh Kumar, the Managing Director of Global Travel Solutions, stated, “India is emerging as a key player in the global tourism industry. With its rich cultural heritage and diverse offerings, the country is attracting attention from around the world.” His remarks underscore the growing recognition of India as a desirable travel destination.

Additionally, discussions around sustainable tourism practices have become a focal point at the IITM. Experts emphasize the importance of balancing economic growth with environmental conservation. Various sessions are dedicated to educating attendees about eco-friendly travel options and responsible tourism initiatives.

Networking Opportunities Abound for Travel Professionals

The IITM not only serves as a showcase for destinations but also as a vital networking hub for industry professionals. Travel agents and tour operators have the chance to meet directly with representatives from various countries, allowing for collaboration on travel packages and promotions. This interaction is crucial for both sides to understand market demands and consumer preferences.

Many participants expressed enthusiasm about the event’s potential to foster new partnerships. Anjali Mehta, a travel agent from Mumbai, noted, “I’ve already set up meetings with several exhibitors to discuss potential tour packages. Events like this are invaluable for our business.” Such sentiments reflect the optimism surrounding the recovery of the tourism sector as it adapts to new realities.

    Visitor Engagement and Experiences

Visitors to the IITM can engage in a variety of activities, including interactive sessions and cultural performances that highlight the tourism offerings of participating nations. Attendees can sample local cuisines, learn about cultural traditions, and even participate in virtual tours of exotic locations. These experiences aim to inspire future travel plans while showcasing the rich diversity of global cultures.

The organizers have also implemented strict safety protocols to ensure a secure environment for all participants, including temperature checks and sanitation stations throughout the venue. This focus on safety is crucial as the tourism industry continues to navigate the challenges posed by the pandemic.

As the event progresses, it aims to solidify its reputation as a premier travel mart in India, fostering connections that will help revitalize global tourism. The IITM’s emphasis on collaboration and innovation is expected to yield positive outcomes for the industry in the coming months.

Looking ahead, the India International Travel Mart is poised to play a significant role in shaping the future of tourism in the region. With growing interest from international exhibitors and an enthusiastic response from visitors, the event marks a hopeful step toward revitalizing Travel And Tourism as a vital economic driver.
