The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has officially announced the launch of the Koyna Daulat Dongri Festival, set to take place from March 25 to March 30, 2026. This week-long event will celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Koyna region, nestled in the heart of the Western Ghats. With an array of activities that include local cuisine, traditional music, and adventure sports, the festival aims to attract both local and international tourists.

    Festival Activities and Attractions

Visitors to the Koyna Daulat Dongri Festival can expect a vibrant lineup of activities designed to showcase the unique offerings of the region. Culinary enthusiasts will have the opportunity to indulge in a variety of local dishes, featuring ingredients sourced directly from the surrounding area. In addition to food stalls, the festival will feature live cooking demonstrations by renowned chefs specializing in Maharashtra’s traditional cuisine. Originally reported by TravelBiz Monitor.

Furthermore, cultural performances will take center stage, with local artists presenting folk dances and music that reflect the rich tapestry of traditions in Koyna. The festival will also host workshops aimed at educating attendees about local crafts, such as pottery and weaving, offering a hands-on experience that connects visitors to the community.

    Adventure Sports and Eco-Tourism

For thrill-seekers, the festival promises an exhilarating lineup of adventure sports, including trekking, rock climbing, and zip-lining in the stunning natural landscape of Koyna. The region, known for its dense forests and serene lakes, provides an ideal backdrop for eco-tourism activities. Organizers are partnering with local adventure companies to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants.

“We aim to promote sustainable tourism through eco-friendly activities that not only entertain but also educate visitors about the importance of preserving our natural resources,” said an MTDC spokesperson. This commitment to eco-tourism aligns with broader efforts to boost the local economy while maintaining the integrity of Koyna’s environment.

    Ticketing and Accessibility

Tickets for the Koyna Daulat Dongri Festival are priced affordably at ₹500 per person, making it accessible for families and groups. Children under the age of 12 can enter for free, ensuring that the festival is family-friendly. The festival grounds will be easily accessible via public transport, with special shuttle services running from nearby cities, including Pune and Kolhapur.

MTDC is also working closely with local hotels and guesthouses to provide comfortable accommodations for visitors. A range of lodging options will be available, from budget stays to luxury resorts, ensuring every traveler finds a suitable place to rest after a day full of festivities.

    Community Engagement and Heritage Preservation

The Koyna Daulat Dongri Festival is not just a celebration of tourism but also a platform for community engagement and heritage preservation. Local artisans and craftsmen will be invited to showcase their work, allowing them to connect directly with festival-goers. This initiative aims to support local economies and encourage the next generation to appreciate and continue these traditional crafts.

“Our goal is to foster a sense of pride among locals while sharing the beauty of our culture with visitors,” stated the MTDC representative. This approach highlights the importance of cultural heritage in tourism and positions Koyna as a destination that values its roots while looking toward the future.

As the Koyna Daulat Dongri Festival approaches, anticipation is building. The event promises to be a vibrant celebration of Maharashtra’s culture and natural beauty, drawing in visitors from across the globe. With its rich blend of activities, adventure, and community spirit, the festival is set to become a landmark event in the state’s tourism calendar.
