In a strategic move to enhance tourism ties with India, the Nepal Tourism Board, together with the Hotel Association of Nepal, hosted a B2B networking event in New Delhi on April 30, 2026. This initiative aims to bolster the tourism sector by connecting Nepali hospitality providers directly with Indian travel agents and tour operators. The event attracted over 150 participants, showcasing various travel packages and experiences available in Nepal, a country renowned for its stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage.

Building Bridges Between Nepal and India

The recent networking event in New Delhi highlighted Nepal’s commitment to attracting Indian tourists, who are one of the largest groups visiting the nation. The Nepal Tourism Board emphasized the importance of partnerships to increase visibility in the Indian market. “We aim to create a platform for direct engagement between Nepali service providers and Indian tour operators, ensuring ease of access and better communication,” stated Deepak Raj Joshi, Chief Executive Officer of the Nepal Tourism Board. Joshi’s remarks signal a significant shift towards enhancing the travel experience for Indian visitors, which has become increasingly vital post-pandemic. The event featured various stalls where participants could explore diverse offerings, from trekking and adventure tourism to cultural tours and wellness retreats. This comprehensive approach aims to cater to the varied interests of Indian travelers.

    Promoting Unique Nepali Experiences

One of the focal points of the event was to promote unique experiences that Nepal offers, which can set it apart from other tourist destinations. The Hotel Association of Nepal showcased a range of accommodations, from luxury hotels to eco-friendly lodges, appealing to different budget segments. According to the association, Nepali hotels have enhanced their services to meet international standards, aiming to provide an exceptional experience for visitors.

Moreover, the hospitality sector in Nepal is gearing up for a significant rebound, with many establishments reporting improved occupancy rates. The tourism board noted that in 2025, there was a 30% increase in Indian arrivals compared to the previous year, highlighting the growing interest in Nepal as a travel destination. This upward trajectory underscores the importance of events like the B2B networking session, which helps solidify relationships within the travel industry.

    Future Plans for Tourism Growth

Looking ahead, the Nepal Tourism Board has outlined several initiatives aimed at sustaining this momentum. In anticipation of the upcoming peak season, the board plans to roll out promotional campaigns targeting Indian travelers. “We’re not just looking for short-term gains; we’re focused on long-term relationships with our partners in India, which will lead to sustainable tourism growth,” added Joshi.

Collaborative efforts are also in the works with Indian influencers and travel bloggers, who can help amplify Nepal’s appeal through social media channels. By leveraging the power of digital marketing, the tourism board hopes to reach a wider audience and entice more travelers to explore the natural beauty and cultural richness of Nepal.

Challenges Ahead for Nepal’s Tourism Sector

Despite the positive outlook, challenges remain for Nepal’s tourism sector. Infrastructure development, particularly in remote areas, has lagged, impacting accessibility for travelers. Additionally, competition from other regional destinations poses a threat. To address these concerns, the government is working on improving transport links and ensuring that tourist sites maintain high standards of safety and service.

Furthermore, the ongoing global economic fluctuations could affect travel budgets. However, the Nepal Tourism Board remains optimistic about the resilience of the Indian market. “We believe that the strong cultural ties and geographical proximity will continue to draw Indian tourists to Nepal,” remarked Joshi. By focusing on unique selling points and enhancing collaborative efforts, the board aims to navigate these challenges effectively.

The networking event in Delhi marks a crucial step in fostering deeper connections with the Indian travel market. As both nations share a long-standing bond, the Nepal Tourism Board’s proactive approach could pave the way for a significant revival in tourism, ultimately benefiting both countries economically and culturally.
