In a bold initiative to redefine its tourism landscape, the state of Odisha has unveiled its captivating campaign, “Think India, Think Odisha.” This program promises to offer visitors a plethora of breathtaking experiences, ranging from rich cultural heritage to thrilling adventure activities. The campaign is a strategic effort to attract both domestic and international travelers and is set to generate an estimated ₹1,000 crore in revenue for the state by the end of the year.

    Unveiling the Campaign

Launched on April 20, 2026, the “Think India, Think Odisha” campaign aims to elevate the state’s profile as a premier travel destination. Odisha, known for its stunning beaches, ancient temples, and vibrant tribal culture, is leveraging these unique attributes to entice tourists. The initiative is backed by a comprehensive marketing strategy that includes social media promotions, collaborations with influencers, and participation in travel expos across the country. Tourism Minister Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi emphasized the campaign’s goal to showcase the diverse offerings of Odisha to a global audience. “Our aim is to position Odisha as a must-visit destination. With this campaign, we want travelers to associate India’s rich cultural tapestry with the experiences available in our state,” he stated during the launch event.

    Experiences Designed for Every Traveler

The “Think India, Think Odisha” campaign is meticulously designed to cater to various types of travelers. For culture enthusiasts, the state offers a treasure trove of ancient temples, including the iconic Jagannath Temple in Puri and the Sun Temple in Konark, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Visitors can immerse themselves in local traditions through festivals like Rath Yatra and the Konark Dance Festival, which celebrate Odisha's rich artistic heritage.

Adventure seekers are not left out either. The campaign highlights thrilling activities such as white-water rafting in the beautiful rivers of the state and trekking in the picturesque landscapes of the Eastern Ghats. Additionally, the pristine beaches of Puri and Gopalpur provide ample opportunities for water sports, making Odisha a compelling choice for adventure tourism.

Moreover, culinary tourism is also a focus, with initiatives aimed at promoting Odia cuisine, famous for its unique flavors and use of local ingredients. The state government plans to organize food festivals to give visitors a taste of traditional dishes, further enhancing their travel experience.

    Strategic Partnerships and Investments

To bolster the campaign’s reach, the Odisha government is forging strategic partnerships with travel agencies and hospitality businesses. These collaborations are expected to enhance service delivery and create attractive travel packages that showcase the best of Odisha. A notable aspect of the initiative is the planned investment of ₹500 crore in infrastructure development, aimed at improving connectivity and amenities in key tourist areas.

In a recent statement, the Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) announced a series of promotional offers, including discounted travel packages and special rates for group bookings. This is designed to encourage more visitors, particularly families and corporate groups, to explore the diverse offerings of the state.

In addition, the campaign aims to leverage technology by launching an official tourism app, which would provide real-time information on attractions, accommodations, and local events. This digital initiative is expected to cater to the tech-savvy traveler, making it easier to plan their trips.

Looking Ahead: A Sustainable Tourism Model

As Odisha embarks on this ambitious campaign, sustainability remains a core focus. The state plans to promote eco-friendly tourism practices and raise awareness about responsible travel among visitors. Initiatives such as waste management at tourist sites and the promotion of eco-tours are part of the strategy to ensure that the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Odisha are preserved for future generations.

Experts believe that with the right execution, the “Think India, Think Odisha” campaign can significantly contribute to local economies and create job opportunities in the tourism sector. As the state positions itself as a premier destination, it not only aims to draw visitors but also to foster a sense of pride among locals about their heritage.

Odisha is set to reclaim its place on the map of Indian tourism as it promises to deliver unforgettable experiences that celebrate both culture and adventure. With the campaign officially launched, the state anticipates a surge in visitors and a renewed interest in its myriad attractions.
