When it comes to north east student hails a&e placement as ‘amazing’ step to paramedic dream, a dedicated college student from North East England is celebrating her recent placement at the local hospital’s accident and emergency (A&E) department, calling it an “amazing” step toward her goal of becoming a paramedic. The placement, which took place over the summer, provided her with invaluable hands-on experience that solidified her aspirations in the medical field.

Understanding North East Student Hails A&E Placement As ‘amazing’ Step To Paramedic Dream

Anna Smith, a 19-year-old student from Newcastle, expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity she had at the Royal Victoria Infirmary during her placement. “Working in A&E was incredible. I got to see firsthand how the team operates under pressure and the impact they have on patients’ lives,” Anna said. Throughout her time in the department, she was involved in various aspects of patient care, from triaging incoming patients to assisting nurses with routine healthcare tasks. The experience was not only educational for Anna but also emotionally rewarding. She noted, “Every day was different, and I learned something new. It really affirmed my desire to work in emergency services and help those in need.” Her placement lasted four weeks, during which she clocked over 100 hours of practical experience, further igniting her passion for the paramedic profession.

    Support from the Community

The opportunity for Anna to work in A&E was made possible through a community initiative aimed at encouraging local youth to pursue careers in healthcare. The program, supported by the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS), provides students with placements in various healthcare settings. “We want to inspire the next generation of paramedics and healthcare professionals,” said Mark Thompson, a coordinator for the initiative. He added that such placements are crucial in helping students gain practical experience and insight into their future careers.

Local healthcare professionals also played a significant role in Anna’s development during her placement. “The staff were incredibly supportive and willing to teach me. They answered all my questions and let me be involved in real-life scenarios,” she remarked. This hands-on guidance helped her understand the complexities of emergency care and honed her decision-making skills in high-stress situations.

    Future Aspirations in Emergency Services

With her A&E placement experience under her belt, Anna is now focused on her next steps towards becoming a paramedic. She plans to enroll in a paramedic science degree program next year, which will allow her to further develop her skills and knowledge. “I can’t wait to start my degree. I know that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life,” Anna stated enthusiastically.

Her long-term goal is to work as a paramedic in her local community, where she believes she can make a real difference. “I want to be there for people in their most vulnerable moments. Being a paramedic means helping others when they need it the most, and I find that incredibly fulfilling,” she explained.

In preparation for her upcoming studies, Anna is actively volunteering with NEAS, where she is gaining more experience and understanding of the role. This commitment not only enhances her resume but also solidifies her dedication to the field. She is proud to be part of a community that values emergency services and aims to contribute positively to it.

    Encouragement for Future Healthcare Workers

Anna’s journey serves as an inspiring example for other young people considering a career in healthcare. Her message is clear: gaining practical experience is essential, and students should seek out opportunities like placements that can provide real-world insights. “Don’t be afraid to reach out and ask for what you want. There are so many resources out there, and people are willing to help you succeed,” she encourages.

As Anna looks to the future, she remains optimistic about the prospects of her chosen career. The support from her community and the skills she has acquired during her placement are invaluable assets on her path to becoming a paramedic. With determination and passion, Anna Smith is one step closer to realizing her dream in emergency services.
