Uzbekistan’s tourism sector is making significant strides in India, recently hosting successful roadshows in Hyderabad and Chennai. These events, which took place on May 8 and 9, 2026, aimed to enhance tourism ties between Uzbekistan and India, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and diverse travel experiences that Uzbekistan offers to Indian travelers.

At the heart of these roadshows was a delegation from Uzbekistan, led by the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, Ulugbek Azamov. The events attracted over 300 attendees, including travel agents, tour operators, and industry stakeholders eager to explore the potential of Uzbekistan as a travel destination. Azamov emphasized the importance of India as a key market for Uzbekistan, stating, “We believe that Indian travelers will find a lot to love in our country, from our historical sites to our unique cuisine.” Originally reported by safariplus.co.in.

    Promising Travel Packages and Initiatives

During the roadshows, the Uzbekistan delegation unveiled a range of travel packages designed specifically for the Indian market. These packages highlight popular destinations such as Samarkand, Bukhara, and Tashkent, with prices starting as low as $499 for a week-long trip, including accommodation, meals, and guided tours. This competitive pricing aims to attract budget-conscious travelers while still providing a rich cultural experience.

In addition to the travel packages, the delegation announced new initiatives aimed at simplifying the visa process for Indian tourists. Uzbekistan has introduced an e-visa system that allows travelers to obtain their visas online, reducing the time and effort required for travel planning. Azamov mentioned, “We are committed to making travel to Uzbekistan as easy and enjoyable as possible for our Indian friends. The e-visa system is just one of the many steps we are taking to enhance accessibility.”

    Strengthening Cultural Ties through Tourism

Uzbekistan’s rich history and vibrant culture are significant draws for Indian tourists. The roadshows highlighted various cultural experiences, including traditional Uzbek music, dance performances, and culinary tastings. Attendees were treated to a taste of Uzbekistan through a curated menu featuring plov, a beloved rice dish, and other local delicacies.

To foster deeper connections, the tourism ministry plans to collaborate with Indian travel agencies to create customized itineraries that cater specifically to Indian preferences. This partnership aims to leverage the expertise of local agents to enhance the overall travel experience for Indian visitors. Azamov remarked, “By working together with Indian travel agents, we can ensure that our offerings resonate with the interests and desires of Indian tourists.”

    Future Prospects for Uzbek Tourism

The enthusiasm generated by the roadshows indicates a promising future for Uzbekistan’s tourism sector in India. With a growing interest in unique travel experiences, Uzbek tourism officials are optimistic that increased connectivity and promotional efforts will lead to a surge in Indian visitors. Azamov expressed his hopes, stating, “We aim to double the number of Indian tourists visiting Uzbekistan within the next three years. Our country is ready to welcome them with open arms.”

In terms of direct flights, discussions are ongoing with various airlines to establish more routes between India and Uzbekistan. Currently, several flights operate between major Indian cities and Tashkent, but expanding these options could significantly boost tourist numbers. The government is keen on enhancing air connectivity as a vital step toward achieving its tourism goals.

The roadshows in Hyderabad and Chennai are just the beginning of Uzbekistan’s outreach efforts in India. Future events are being planned in other cities to further engage with the Indian market. As Uzbekistan positions itself as a top travel destination, the collaboration between the two nations promises to enrich cultural exchanges and foster mutual understanding through tourism.

Overall, Uzbekistan’s proactive approach to engaging with the Indian tourism market reflects a broader strategy to tap into the burgeoning interest among Indian travelers seeking unique and enriching experiences abroad. With the recent roadshows, Uzbekistan has laid the groundwork for what could become a thriving tourism relationship with India.
